ESE 2008

The Eclipse Summit Europe 2008 is over and preparations are already being made for the next conference, EclipseCon 2009. This was my third trip to just south of Stuttgart, Germany.
The first ESE conference was held at Esslingen. An absolutely awsome venue with some great food, but a little too small for the following conferences. Since it was my first time I was mostly observing and learning.

First time at Ludwigsburg was also great. A much bigger venue (I think it has space for around 450 attendees) and a bigger city.

This time around it was a much more social event. I grabbed the opportunity to discuss problems (and solutions) with quite a few people. My colleague and I even had a long chat with the keynote speaker of the day, Dave Thomas. He have some interesting ideas on embedded software.

The sessions were great too. But for those of us that attended the EclipseCon 2008 in Santa Clara it was much of the same thing.

My employer is looking for trainers and luckily the RCP Company, Weigle & Wilczek and Incremental were there. Getting to talk with these people directly is so much more efficient.

The Microdoc sponsored beer on Wednesday made everyone happy and when not agreeing about shared experiences with Equinox p2, Subversive, CDT MBS and much else — we even talked about normal, everyday things.

All in all I think it was a great conference. See you next time, maybe in Toulouse as the rumors say.
